Happy Midsummer!

Today, as every year nordics all over the region is celebrating Midsummers eve. An event that involved excessive eating, singing but most prominently drinking. PE halls are transformed into nursing facilities for drunken teenagers and the police is working overtime to catch those who dare to take the car home from the festivities. Everybody is enjoying this true national day of Sweden. Everybody except me! Today marks the fifth year where I have for one reason or another missed Midsummers eve. Either I have been working, travelling or been jacked in a hospital bed. This year I am spending my Midsummers eve in Switzerland, a place where this term means as much as Christmas means to palestinians. Well, I am enjoying myself, but without all that eating, singing and drinking. Hope that you are enjoying your Midsummers eve, wherever you are. Happy midsummer!

Summer?

Me and Akin have now spent about five days in my motherland, Sweden. During the course of these days we have been able to watch a crap allstar football game, drink beer and play a lot of pool. However, the weather leaves something to wish for. It is literally crap. It balances between rain and cloudy and never seems to make up its mind. It's Flekke all over again. Today it seems to clear up though. However, the point of this remark is to state that the weather determines your mood to a great extent. Even though we both are done with our IB's and really have nothing to do, except prepare for our individual projects, we are restless. The weather decides what we can do from one day to the other. It is freakin' annoying! So, I just wanted to complain a bit about the summer that never seems to come, on the real first day of summer, 1st of June. Hope that you are a bit better off!
